The casserole is making a come back. During the earliest days when casseroles first appeared on the horizon,
They were found in dinning rooms all across the land from breakfast,
brunches to dinner and even desserts. When was the last time you went to a party and didn't find several.
They are all about food, family, and friends. Not only are these easy to make, but can be healthy as well.
With the addition of vegetables and whole grains.
What we know as this modern dish appeared in the 19th century when those of the Victorian era added potatoes and other
vegetables, meats and cheeses in creative ways to complement main entrees. For a society that focused on physical labor as
a means of survival, these hearty dishes fulfilled the caloric needs of the day.
Most of your ingredients and equipment can be found in your kitchen. Your main piece of equipment is the
baking dish. It can be made of ovenproof glass, porcelain, and enameled cast iron. The ingredients can
be found in any supermarket. The recipes are a combination of parts usuallly containing a protien, startch, and sauce.
On this site you will find recipes for breakfast and brunch, pasta dishes like macaroni and cheese and Stuffed pasta
shells made with ricotta cheese and spinach. Recipes with meat and poultry, side dishes, recipes with seafood like
baked scallops and crab and mushroom. We will also be taking care of our vegetarian friends.
I will also have some recipes for the kids as well as those of you with a sweet tooth our
dessert section will have recipes for apple casserole and baked rice pudding to name a few.
