APPLE STREUSEL CRISP

Apple streusel crisp a popular dish that uses baked apples and a brown sugar topping. The streusel forms a crunchy topping. This dish is also known as apple crisp. Serves 8

INGREDIENTS

FOR TOPPING

2/3 cup flour (all purpose)

1/3 cup brown sugar (light or dark packed)

5 tbsp butter

FRUIT FILLING

8 cups apples (sliced)

3/4 cup granulated sugar

2 tbsp flour (all purpose)

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

whipped topping

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 350f and butter a 1 1/2 quart casserole pan with 1 tbsp of butter.

2. TOPPING- Place in a large bowl mix flour and brown sugar using a mixer cut 4 tbsp butter into flour until resembles crumbs set aside.

3. FRUIT FILLING- Place apples into a large bowl. Add sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg toss. Place evenly in casserole dish. Sprinkle topping over fruit.

4. Bake, uncovered for 45-1 hour until apples are tender and topping is browned. Serve warm or at room temperature with whipped topping.
